VIRGINIA aka Banded Portland aka Portland w/Diamond Point Band was manufactured by U.S. Glass Company circa 1901. The official pattern number is 15071. It was made in a plethora of peices some clear, some with gold and some with a ruby or rose blush.

Ruth Moncelle Morris began collecting Banded Portland (as it was always called in our family) prior to the 1940's. She was drawn more to the clear versus the more "colorful" gold and ruby items as they more readily matched the other EAPG she collected. The simple elegance of the lines with the pretty band of points around the middle is what also enamoured my Mom, Pat Burr Moncelle, with this pattern. Since inheriting it, we have added several lovely peices enhancing what was already a beautiful collection.
